Mist Tokens, shorthand MT, are denominations of the account-bound metacurrency in The Domains of Dread awarded on character closure, including the closure of Dread Figures. Mist Tokens do not expire and are not capped. They are awarded in increments of 5, where 5 is the lowest cost for an option and 100 the highest.

Earning Mist Tokens

The value amount awarded per closure is determined by the Game Masters using a variety of factors plus some randomness. Generally, characters who have reached the 14th level and achieved milestones such as becoming a notable figure within a supported faction shall be awarded more MT upon their closure than a character who did not achieve the same milestones. It should be noted that characters who expire “ahead of schedule” for reasons pertaining to story such as from Game Master chaperoned events will still be awarded an extra sum of MT upon their closure, so holding onto characters for the sole purpose of “farming” MT is never necessary.

Characters must be played for at least 60 days IRT before becoming eligible for MT upon closure unless closured by a Game Master chaperoned event. If they were a Dread Figure, their minimum is likewise shortened to 30 days IRT. Available Mist Tokens may be checked in the player menu, invoked with the !menu or !m chat command.

Spending Mist Tokens

Mist Tokens are spent buying their associated perks during character creation, applying to that character only. Unless specified, a player may choose to buy as many perks as they can afford however only one per “line” may be selected.

Dread Figures

In order to encourage roster variety, certain templates of Dread Figure require an investment of MT to be played. If not specified, then the template incurs no cost.

Dread Figures may have purchasable perks, such as determining age should age be a factor. Please see their articles for details.
