Applications and the Allowlist

From The Domains of Dread

The Domains of Dread is an allowlist-only server. Every new character, even from returning players, must be applied for and approved by the Game Masters to gain the ability to leave the out of character experience and enter the world. This form is available on the Discord and is likewise submitted there. Applying for a character prior to their creation in-game is not required, but permission to leave the out of character experience can only be granted once that character exists somewhere in the in-game character creation process.

3 application types exist at present: Normal, Divine and Occult. If the character receives class archetype features relating to the devout worship of an ideoligion such as Cleric or inherent Divine power such as Paladin, use the Divine application. If the character receives class archetype features relating to Occult power such as Necromancer, Dark Knight or Warlock, use the Occult application. This clause applies to any archetypes which use those spellbooks, like Shadow for Rogue. All other class archetypes use the Normal application.

Use of Large-Language Models (LLMs)

How a player uses an LLM such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Deepseek and so on to help them through a character application is up to that player’s discretion. However, no answer provided by an LLM may be used in any part of the written application—at most its responses should be paraphrased by the human player. Applications suspected of full or co-authorship by an LLM will be rejected regardless of viability and that character concept permanently vetoed from play. Cases of serial attempted LLM use may be subject to discipline by staff. Should it be discovered that an application was fully or co-authored by an LLM after that application was accepted, the character will be permanently rescinded from play. They will also be permanently rescinded from play should reason exist to suspect that the character’s dialogue, description and/or replies in-game are being fully or co-authored by an LLM.

The Domains of Dread prides itself on catalyzing human creativity as a platform for collaborative storytelling. It is endlessly preferable that an application be flawed and human rather than “perfect” and artificial.
