Build Restrictions

From The Domains of Dread

Due to the altered design ethos for class archetypes in The Domains of Dread, there are few arbitrary build restrictions. At present, no character should:

  1. Have INT at or below 6, the minimum for sapience;
  2. Have more than 1 lowered attribute at or below 10. This does not include automatic adjustments due to race or background selection;
  3. Have less than 11 in their primary spellcasting or ability attribute. This does include automatic adjustments due to race or background selection;
  4. Have more than 1 base class and associated archetype. Multiclassing is disabled in The Domains of Dread.
  5. Should a character no longer qualify for their class archetype due to alignment slides or another lost prerequisite, they may qualify for a rebuild at the Game Masters’ discretion. Do note that in the case of fallen Paladins, they will never again qualify for Paladin except for time limited events as chaperoned by Game Masters.

Relevels and rebuilds are meant to fix player mistakes during leveling and should not be abused to make strategic choices for specific encounters or any other kind of exploit not in spirit of the server, per the Game Rules.

Relevels

Relevels permit a player to redo any choice made when leveling the character to their present level. Invoked by the !relevel chat command when inside the out of character experience. Relevels may be taken as many times as required, however a character loses any experience gained to the next level when releveling. Do not use relevels to change a character's class or archetype.

Rebuilds

Rebuilds permit a player to totally remake the character as though they were new except keeping experience, inventory, and any other information regarding that character. Invoked by the !rebuild chat command when inside the out of character experience. Rebuilds, unlike relevels, have the following limitations:

  1. They must be taken before the character reaches the 9th level, or no more than 90 days IRT after the 9th level is first achieved;
  2. Class cannot be changed unless prompted or waived by the Game Masters;
  3. Their first and last name must remain the same unless prompted or waived by the Game Masters;
  4. Archetype may change, but the character must fulfill any new archetype requirements as usual.

Once a character is no longer eligible for rebuilds, the Game Masters will approve a rebuild only for cases of sweeping class archetype changes, story reasons such as a fallen Paladin being rebuilt into a Dark Knight, or due to unintended behavior and/or bugs. Once rebuilt, the prior incarnation of the character is deleted from the server vault.
